The Department of Middle Eastern Christian Studies encompasses the Syriac and Coptic Orthodox traditions, preserving the theological and cultural heritage of Christianity’s earliest communities in the Middle East and North Africa. Our program honors the unique liturgical languages, patristic traditions, and spiritual practices that have sustained these churches through centuries of challenge and change. We equip students with deep knowledge of Eastern Christian theology while fostering the scholarly and pastoral skills needed to serve diverse Orthodox communities in Sweden’s multicultural landscape.
