The Swedish Folkhögskola education is flexible and student-centered

The literal translation of the Swedish word “Folkhögskola” into English is “People’s University” and that sums up what the Folkhögskola is all about – an educational institution that provides adult education characterized by flexibility and student influence.

Allmän Kurs (General Education programs) at Sankt Ignatios Folkhögskola corresponds to the education that you normally get in Sweden in primary and secondary school, and grants you the general entry requirements for university studies and higher vocational education.

All our courses are organized around themes, where human rights are a central concept, and with wellness and health as other important elements. We also work to help our course participants become active participants in today’s highly digitized society.
We are located in Södertälje, Huddinge, and Sundsvall. Each campus has its own selection of courses.

Allow us to introduce you to the teachers who will guide your progress through Allmän Kurs! Each one of them brings to the school a unique blend of education, life-experience and personality and, most importantly: a deep commitment to the educational goals of the school and the well-being of our course participants.

We are happy to welcome would-be participants to visit us at Campus Södertälje or Campus Huddinge. Unfortunately, because of the Coronavirus pandemic, our campuses are closed.

However, we would be delighted to welcome you as an ‘online’ visitor. We can arrange for you to talk to teachers and perhaps attend a Meet lecture as well. If you would like to do that, please contact Daniel Öhrvall, Deputy Chancellor.
