The Dean of Sankt Ignatios, Michael Hjälm, met with His Beatitude John X, and the Very Reverend Professor Jack Khalil, Dean of Saint John of Damascus Institute of Theology, University of Balamand, as well as members of the faculty, and not least the students. The discussions were fraternal and addressed possible ways of cooperation, and the need of strengthening ties between the diaspora and the mother churches in the Middle East.
The Dean also attended Professor Khalil’s lecture on the common traits between the First letter of John and the prologue of the Gospel of John, and also had fruitful discussions with Professor Bassam Nassif (Pastoral Theology) and Professor Daniel Ayuch (Theology and Biblical Studies). Dr Hjälm also met with Professor Parthenios Allaty (Oriental Canon Law), and other members of the faculty.
The visit was hosted by His Beatitude with a warm hospitality extended through the faculty and the Student Life Affairs Director, Very Reverend Damaskinos al-Keadeh.
