Fr. Haileyesus Alebachew

Dr. Haileyesus Alebachew, is a senior lecturer at Sankt Ignatius College and deputy rector and program manager of Sankt Ignatios Tewahedo Orthodox Seminary. 

He teaches the college courses; The Early Church and The Gospels and the Letters of Paul. He also teaches Ge’ez Language, Practical Liturgy and Zema in the Orthodox Tewahedo Seminary. In addition, he teaches the following distance courses: Dogmatic Theology, Church History, Bible Study, and Practical Theology. As a priest, he serves the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, Naka Holy Trinity Church, Stockholm. 

Fr. Haileyesus Alebachew received PhD in Ge’ez Philology, an MA in Social Psychology, and an MA in English Language from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. He has also Bachelor of Theology from Holy Trinity Theological College, Addis Ababa. In addition, from the traditional schools of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, he acquired knowledge of Zema, Qene, Qiddase, and Aquaquam. Currently, he is studying for the MA in Eastern Christian Theology, at University College Stockholm. 

Fr. Haileyesus believes that “teaching, particularly theological, is helping people to have a much clearer understanding about their present and future (earthly and heavenly) life”
