Allmän Kurs – Preparation for Higher Education with Eastern Christian Studies Profile

In this program you will study the Allmän kurs (50%) in order to gain the necessary qualification to study further at a higher education college or University. Here you deepen your knowledge and skills in Swedish, rhetoric, writing, analysis of sources and study techniques. In parallel with this, you will study at Sankt Ignatios College (50%) where you can immerse yourself in four church traditions: Tewahedo, Coptic, Syrian or Byzantine.

 

Allmän kurs at the folkhögskola (50%):

  • Swedish 1, 2 & 3 / Swedish as a Second Language 1, 2 & 3
  • Social Studies 1b (with the opportunity to study Social Studies 2 & 3)
  • Religious Studies 1 (with the opportunity to study Religious Studies 2) 
  • Mathematics 1a, 1b or 1c (with the opportunity to study Mathematics 2 & 3)
  • English 5 & 6 (with the opportunity to study Engelska 7)
  • History 1a1
  • Science 1a1

 

Courses include, amongst other,

  • Church Languages: Ge’ez, Classical Syrian, Coptic, Greek or Church Slavic
  • Church Music from the student’s own tradition

Completion of Swedish foundation education or allmän kurs (foundation level) at a folkhögskola Also, all students need to be at least 18 year old and officially registered in Sweden.

Fees: Tuition at Sankt Ignatios Folkhögskola is free for everyone who is registered (“folkbokförda”) in Sweden.

Service Fees: Students are required to pay a service fee. The service fee for this program is SEK 1200 per semester
