On Friday 18th of February the students visited Stockholm. They visited the exhibition of Egyptian mummies at Medelhavets (the Mediterranean) museum in Stockholm and the Royal Armoury in the Palace where they saw weapons, costumes and bloodstained armour from the last 500 years of Sweden’s history. These were exhibitions of artifacts from vastly different cultures and different times, but both reminded us that our histories are marked by violent war, elaborate decoration and the longing to be remembered after death.
The students were fascinated by both museums and several said that they wished they could stay longer or that they would like to come again. The weather was lovely and we had a wonderful day in the big city.
