The first part of a three-year course that introduces participants to the Syriac Church Fathers during three different eras in the history of the Syriac Orthodox Church.
Part I focuses on early Greek and Syriac Church Fathers before Chalcedon, including Ignatius of Antioch, Aphrahat, the Cappadocian Fathers and Ephrem the Syrian.
Part II (year 2) covers the Fathers who lived from the Council of Chalcedon until the end of the 8th century, including Philoxenus of Mabbug, Severus of Antioch and Jacob of Edessa.
Part III (year 3) deals with the Fathers from the 9th century until today including Moshe Bar Kifo, Bar-Salibi, Bar-Hebraeus, Mafryono Shemun and Aphrem Barsoum.
