Those who are called to serve the Church need training that equips them academically, practically, and spiritually. At Sankt Ignatios College, our programs offer all these elements within an up-to-date framework that is flexible and student-centered.
We are a collaboration among four Orthodox Church traditions: Byzantine (Greek and Slavic), Syriac, Coptic, and Tewahedo (Ethiopian/Eritrean), creating a truly international learning community in the heart of Södertälje.
Each of our vocational students belong to one of our seminaries or seminary projects, and their education is specifically geared towards that tradition.
We currently have four seminaries:
- Coptic Orthodox Seminary
- Ethiopian Tewahedo Orthodox Seminary
- Georgian Orthodox Seminary
- Syrian Orthodox Seminary
Pathways for Pastoral Training:
For students with a Bachelors degree, we offer these pathways for a pastoral degree. Note that each pathway always begins with the course One Year for the Church.
Successfully completing the Pastoral Degree Program will result in the student receiving a recommendation letter for priest ordination, if desired.
If the Bachelor’s degree includes 60 ECTS in theology, this 2-year pathway is recommended:

If the Bachelor’s degree does not include 60 ECTS in theology, this 3-year pathway is recommended:

For students without a Bachelors degree, we offer various pathways for pastoral training. Please note that Sankt Ignatios College does not currently offer a Bachelor’s Degree. However, students may do their BA at another institution alongside language study at Sankt Ignatios College or a Pre-Master at our Stockholm School of Eastern Christian Studies.
Please contact the Dean of Students by email at deanofstudents@sanktignatios.org for more information relating to your particular situation. Students will be assigned a priest or mentor to guide them through the process of choosing the right pathway for their situation.
