Introduction to the Syriac Orthodox Tradition

In this course students are introduced to Syriac Christianity and to the different sources associated with the tradition of the Syriac Orthodox Church, with a focus on developments during the 4th – 14th centuries. The course introduces the Syriac Bible, the monastic movement and its writers, patristic authors, historiographers, liturgical commentaries and canon law.
