Do you want to learn the basics of Biblical and Liturgical Greek to be able to read and understand the Church’s Holy Scriptures and prayers? In this course, you will learn to read Biblical and Liturgical texts using the pronunciation used in the Orthodox Church today. You will also receive an orientation in basic Greek grammar to be able to understand simpler sentences from the Bible and the prayers of the Church. Liturgical texts will be used for practicing pronunciation and grammar, including the Psalms according to the Septuagint (the Greek translation that the Lord Himself quoted e.g., in Matthew 21:16).
The course can be taken independently or together with the course The Psalms – the Church’s Primary Prayer Book. It is suitable both for beginners in Greek and for those who may have studied New Testament Greek before and want to refresh their knowledge and gain insights into Greek as a living liturgical language.
