Deacon Training Program in the Tewahedo Tradition

This program is designed to train people to become deacons in the Orthodox Tewahedo Church. The course lasts two years and is taught in Tigrigna or Amharic, but it can also be taken in Swedish or English by those students without the necessary fluency in Amharic and Tigrigna. 

The course includes Zema training for sacramental and liturgical services, and an additional 8 modules; i.e. Dogmatic Theology, Church History I, Bible Study, Patrology (Year I) and Church History II, Canon Law and Church Administration, Ecclesiology, Homiletics (Year II)

Those who participate in the program will gain sufficient knowledge to be able to serve successfully and with confidence as a deacon within the Church.

Requirements:

In addition to the requirements stated in the course description, all students need to be at least 18 year old, be officially registered in Sweden and have a sufficient knowledge of the language of instruction.

Fees: Tuition at Sankt Ignatios Folkhögskola is free for everyone who is a citizen of Sweden or another EU country or who have been granted permission to live in Sweden. Students must be registered as living in Sweden. 

Service Fees: Students are required to pay a service fee. The service fee for this program is SEK 1200 per semester
