Archimandrite Jean Mansour

Archimandrite Jean Mansour is dean of the College, the director of the Byzantine seminary and teaches the following courses; Rhetorics and Homiletics intermediate A and B; Greek Language intermediate A and B; Patristic Exegesis; Practical Liturgy; Books of the Bible; Role of the deacon; Introduction to Eastern Christian Theology. He joined Saint Ignatios in 2016.

Fr. Jean was born in Lebanon. In 1997 he entered the monastery, became a monk in 2003 and was ordained a priest in 2004. He has served as a parish priest, as vicar of the bishop in the north of Lebanon and since 2014 he has been the vicar patriarchal in Sweden and Scandinavia (Antiochian Patriarch).

He holds a BA in theology and a license in Christian Orthodox Theology from Paris. He is the author of several scholarly articles (in Arabic and French). He is passionate about the quality of education of future priests and leaders in the Church. His aim is to provide the leaders of the future with a high level of Christian Orthodox understanding so that they possess a modern theological language with which to engage modern society. He is interested in the ways in which the Orthodox traditions can be maintained and strengthened in a Western context

Fr Jean believes that the global challenge is to find a balance between the practical and theoretical, between doxa and praxis.  He longs for the Church to understand and recover its tradition so that the Church can enrich the world with its vision.

His motto is: “How can i,” he said “ unless someone explains it to me?” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him – Acts 8:31
